When I started my hotel job at the bell desk in 1997 Maverick Helicopters only had a dozen employees and three helicopters. I remember the founders coming into the hotel and trying to convince my Bell Captain to invest in their helicopter tour business but my old boss chose to hang onto his money and lived to regret it!
Here it is 20 years later and Maverick just opened their new $5 million, 6,000 square foot terminal on the west side of McCarran International Airport. Maverick Helicopters now has 5 locations in the west along with a location in Maui. The company has nearly 50 helicopters and employs over 400 people.
The new terminal is plush and modern with versatile space and two-story high ceilings with a great view of the airfield. Upon check-in guests don't have to divulge their weight because unbeknownst to them, they're standing on a scale that's built into the floor at the front of the counter!
The company celebrated their grand opening this past week with two nights of festivities that included live entertainment by Matt Goss and Daniel Park, plenty of food and beverages and of course complimentary helicopter rides up and down the Las Vegas Strip!
