My first assignment for Zip Code Magazines was about The Linq promenade, located on the Vegas Strip between the Flamingo and The Linq casinos. Boy, did I ever go overboard! I wrote way too much content (and took way too many photos) but really, there was so much to see and do it was hard to touch on everything in just 1,200 words!
The Linq has something for everyone. The 550 foot tall High Roller observation wheel offers a great view of the Vegas Strip at sunset (ask about discounts when buying tickets) and chances are The Brooklyn Bowl (my favorite music venue of all time) will be hosting some great live music. If an artist you don't fancy is playing there you can still go inside to the bar and restaurant area and have a craft beer and eat some good Blue Ribbon grub... and still eavesdrop on the bands!
There's also a great car collection inside The Linq Hotel & Casino (look online for coupons) and while you're there stop by Hash House A-go-go and try one of their signature Bloody Marys.
Being a photographer I thoroughly enjoyed the Polaroid Museum (it's free) and be sure to stop by Goorin Bros Hat Shop—they supplied the Walter White character with his pork pie hat on Breaking Bad.
Next time you have friends come to visit Las Vegas, tell them to check out the rates at The Linq. All the rooms have been freshly remodeled and although they may not have much of a view, their pool is pretty nice and the promenade is right there! One could easily spend all day at this place and anytime you can kill a day without having to get in your car and drive... well, that's a good thing.
