Rusty Spur Saloon is a small — and I do mean really small — dive bar located a few miles south of the Las Vegas Strip tourist corridor. The watering hole shares it's parking lot with a low budget hotel and there's a Trans America Truck Stop across the street. It's the perfect setting really, especially for a saloon that prides itself on all things Pabst Blue Ribbon and classic outlaw country music — but with some Social D, Ramones and Rockabilly thrown in to keep both your feet stomping. Warning: Do not play Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" on the juke after midnight if Fancy Lancy is bartending... it will haunt your dreams.
Twice in the past six months "The Spur" has hosted local Rockabilly and Blues favorites The Delta Bombers with the most recent gig also featuring the band Eddy Bear & The Cubs, along with a car show courtesy of the Las Vegas Rod & Custom Coalition.
Folks, Vegas bands such as The Killers and Imagine Dragons have done Las Vegas proud but I think it's safe to say that that per capita, The Delta Bombers have a much more loyal and devout fan base world-wide. Seriously, The D'Bombs spend a few months each year travelling the world playing gigs and Rockabilly festivals in places like Germany, Czech Republic, France and Belgium — and their following is off-the-floor hardcore. Check out The Delta Bomber's Facebook page and follow them on their adventures because they post some righteous stuff.

Somehow Mike and I have become the Rusty Spur's unofficial-official photographers. You know the saying that if you hang-out in a place long enough they'll put you to work? Ummm... yea, I guess that's what happened. We couldn't ask for a more fun gig though, as friend and bar owner Michael Helper pays us with gratitude and alcohol and gives us free reign to crawl all over the bar top, counters and coolers to get our shots (both alcoholic and photographic). We have a blast while doing our thing and it also helps that the guys in the bands are mega-Beretta cool to work with.

I may not be covered in ink or have pomade in my hair — and I don't drive a classic hot rod — but I love hanging-out with the Delta Bomber/Rusty Spur crowd. Whenever our worlds collide, which isn't often enough, I always manage to make a few new friends while running into some old ones... and if that's not worth drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon for, I don't know what is.
